Well, now I've replaced the cable level switch. The darn light is STILL on. With the old cable but new switch recently the light would go out but then come back on and go out again. That cable has conductive grease on the connector pins. I many need to go that route again with this one.
Cable replacement is involved. The power steering reservoir and engine mount yoke both need to come out to get at the cable and its connector. The new cable is about an inch shorter than the original but no matter. It hooks up to the harness just fine. Now that I've done it, I can probably replace it in an hour or so.
This may finally push me over the edge into buying a Tech 2 and then figuring out how to set it up. I have some OLD XP laptops with serial ports that run OpCom very well and I use them to read codes, but this requires reprogramming or "calibrating". I understand I'll need an XP laptop to "unlock" the Tech 2. There are some shops around here with Tech 2's but the people that use them don't inspire much confidence.
