I have to leave this to my techs - a Saab specialty shop.
I get a bit antsy when thinking about dropping the subframe on my '01 Aero, now at 160K on the odo, as my son has a '04 Aero wagon that needs new subframe bushings, and the guys at his Saab specialty shop (Boston Volvo, née Charles River Saab) have warned him that in a car that old it's not at all unlikely for the subframe bolts to break off when they try to loosen them.
Sort of hard to believe, but replacement 9-5 subframes are available - used pieces taken from wrecks and completely rehabbed and refinished, etc. - but I'm guessing there's a really hefty price attached to THAT job!
Going to retrieve our 9-5 Arc wagon from college student offspring tomorrow, but for the time being still on my fatbike...
