DIC and Plug change Posted by Chip Fichot [Email] (#2597) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Chip Fichot) on Fri, 1 Nov 2019 11:04:15 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I will be replacing the plugs and DIC (proactively, so I can carry a spare) in my 9-5 this weekend and although it seems pretty straightforward, I wanted to make sure I have the details correct, and have a few questions/looking for recommendations based on what's in the WIS.
For the plugs, the WIS states the following:
1. Coat the spark plug threads with 90 513 210 Universal paste or equivalent
2. Coat the rubber seals with 90 540 018 Lubricant
3. Check the spark gap (1,0 – 1,1 mm / .039 - .043 in) and fit the spark plugs – tighten to 21 lbf ft
- Any recommendations on the anti-seize ("universal paste") to use that I might find at a local parts store?
- Is it necessary/recommended to lube the rubber seals, and if so, any recommendations on what to use that I might find at a local parts store?
For the DIC, the WIS states the following:
1. Apply Krytox to the rubber seals and fit the ignition discharge module
2. Fit the 4 screws – tighten to 8.1 lbf ft
3. Spray the 10-pin ignition discharge module connector with Kontakt 61. Plug in the connector
- I ordered dielectric grease from eEuroparts along with the plugs, so will use that for step 1
- For step 3, is that necessary/recommended and if so, is there an equivalent of Kontakt 61 that I would find at my local parts store?
TIA
