Hello everyone,
My son own a 2002 Saab 9-5 2.3 4-door sedan with 178K miles on the car at the moment. I recently changed the oil on his Saab and noticed that the car's turbo leaking from the aluminum return pipe to the oil pan. So, I ordered a gasket for it from EEuroparts and replaced it without removing the return pipe, because I wasn't able to. So, with a hairline opening, I slid the paper gasket betwen the return pipe and the turbo housing. I tighten up with the existing bolts. It was fine for a few weeks and now it's leaking again. I know this isn't the right way to stop the leak, but he needed the use the car and I only had a weekend to do so.
My question is, since the car has close to 200K miles on an original turbo, I was thinking of buying a new turbo for it and do it right. I was searching for the best price on a turbo, and I came across some turbos are extreamly cheap on Ebay. I know that you get for what you paid for, but I wwould like to know if anyone here had purchased these turbos on Ebay before and if they're any good? I would like to keep the car for another 2-3 more years, but I don't want to have to replace the turbo again in 6 months.
I am open for suggestions and greatly appreciate any feedback.
Regards,
Harry
