Thanks for posting.
I went round and round with the same starter issue for about five years on our '04 SC! I replaced the battery and positive cable with mixed results. The problem was intermittent but the starter was never quick like most of them I've had. It always seemed to crank slowly. If the car was driven short distances and restarted over short intervals like shopping at multiple stores it was worse.
My wife got stranded once and that was the last straw. I replaced the OE Mitsu one with a Bosch. Voila, the car cranked like all our other cars. She had suggested the starter not long after buying the car. I should have listened! I replaced ours at 164,500 miles and about 12 years of service (five with us).
So if you have a slow OE starter it's not always the battery or positive battery cable. Yes, I replaced the OP sensor while changing out the starter.
