My 06 9-5SC (185k miles) has a bad fuel sending unit, as well as a broken tank strap (my fault). I'm quickly educating myself on what appears to be a really fun procedure (not!), but wondering if I can purchase the 9-3SS pump unit (12805467) as opposed to a 9-5 pump for twice the price. I am not going OEM so plan to buy something like an Airtex pump or similar, but since the 9-3 is almost identical (per a post from 6 years ago) is this still the way to go? Has this worked for anyone else successfully? Any thoughts on pumps to avoid? I hope to get another 50k out of the car at least. Thx.
