Our 2000 V6 periodically won't turn over, battery tests good and charged (which makes me think it's not a charging issue). I have a starter on order but have read about the cable going bad and how difficult a job this is.

Has anyone run a second thick wire from the battery to the starter, leaving the original cable in place? I did that decades ago on an old VW to deal with a similar situation. I don't know if this car has a bad starter or if the cable is bad, it's pretty corroded near the battery at least.
