I followed your advice, and the SID popped out easiy - there are just the 2 plastic "spring" tabs on the SID itself, potential candidates for plastic fatigue, but still OK, I guess. I got a pack of 6 SID replacement bulbs on eBay from Tanin Auto Electronix for $9.99 They fit properly, but need a bit more force with a Phillips driver in order to turn and lock in. The OEM bulbs you could probably turn by hand with a bit of manuevering. I replaced all six while I was in there, but only 2 were actually burned out.
If I had any real sense of adventure for 9-5 bulb replacement, I'd do the instrument cluster - almost all of those bulbs have failed - but the videos I've watched show an awful lot of disassembly, with plenty of room for something to go very worng, so maybe I'll leave those to the indy: 2 hours of labor, so fairly expensive.
