manual trans fluid Posted by TML [Email] (#2212) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TML) on Fri, 24 Sep 2021 08:54:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'm going to try replacing the trans fluid to see if that helps the sticky shifting in my car. Since I don't know what fluid is in there, as it had multiple owners before me over a 14 year period, I'm going to have to do a flush. Is there a really good reason to use the OEM fluid instead of generic 75W90 synthetic gear oil? The OEM stuff has to get shipped internationally, and considering the amount needed for flush and fill, it adds up to a lot. I can just walk into a local store and get the 75W90. Is there real magic in the OEM stuff?

edit: It looks like 75W90 isn't the right viscosity, it's 75W80. That changes things a bit since I don't see any of that around here.
