By non-return valve, I assume you mean the fuel pump check valve? If that's the case, it sits on top of the pump assembly , and you would have had to remove it when you swapped out the fuel pump. There are 2 valves, the white one is the check valve, and the black one is for the return, and there should be a metal u shape bracket holding down the 2 lines with a screw top dead center of the pump cover.
Since you have it out, you can try spraying it..to see if that helps. Otherwise to replace it.. you need to be careful.. as there's not much line to work with after you cut off the original.. There are several discussions in this forum and others on how to tackle that.. .
Also check youtube for a few videos/pictures on the fuel pump/removal..if you're unsure ..
