Perfect timing - right before we are to get a hu-mungus snow storm...car throws a P0116 code.
Not sure what this code means so did some digging on this site and my understanding is that it is a logic level flag that is thrown when the engine does not reach proper temperature for a given amount of time. Correct?
Obvious failures are the temperature sensor or the thermostat. The water pump, thermostat, and temperature sensor were all replaced 4-5 years ago when I did a major cooling maintenance that included flushing the cooling system, new radiator and hoses. IIRC, OEM Saab for the thermostat and sensor, waterpump is Hepu. Refilled with Saab OE antifreeze (Dexcool) and DI water. System worked fine up until now.

I haven't driven it much when this condition showed up but the temp gauge hovered around the 9 oclock position (normal), dipping down a touch every so often. Heat output was good as usual.

Best way to trouble shoot this?
Where is the connector for the temp sensor located? normal resistance readings? (Is the sensor a RTD?)

Any advice appreciated.
