I almost always carry a fullsized wheel and tire, in lieu of a do-nut.
For wagons, almost anything fits in there. But for the sedans, when you go big or wide, it brings the panel of the trunk floor up - in some instance over an inch.
Something like a 205/55R 16 with stock wheel normally doesn't raise the panel - it will lay flush. A 215/55R 16 will raise it a little.
Something like a 215/45R 17 is kinda undersized for this car but fits nicely. A 225/45R 17 may or may not lay flush (based on brand/design) but ain't bad. A 235/45R 17 will mean a raised floor.
I hope this helps ya. I've got 3 of these 9-5 sedans and the one 9-5 wagon.
