Thanks all. Yes, 9-5 3.0Lt
Quoting from WIS in 9600-95-2002-V6 Engine: Front craankshaft seal, to change:
#2 under "to Fit": "2. Fit the spacer ring. place part no. (10) 93 21 795 on the back of the crankshaft timing belt sprocket and fit in place. Use counterstay, part no. 8395063. Remove counterstay"
"Part 93 21 795" is the red anaerobic flange sealant 518 from Loctite or the Nissan equivalent.
I cleaned the crank and applied clean oil to slide the seal and sleeve in place. I haven't torqued the crank sprocket with the crank bolt yet. I have StaLube Engine Assembly Lube for resetting the camshafts and I can lube the sleeve and inner seal. I did use the 518 on the oil pump cover gasket when I refitted that. I just don't understand what WIS is doing here??? The sprocket is stationary by it's pin, The sleeve I'd guess would spin on it's own rolling over the seal? OR, does the sealant join the sleeve with the sprocket to to synchronize spin??
I've never done this before and I'm a tad nervous and DEFINITELY don't want to do this again for another 190K miles !
