My 900 Turbo wiper mechanism had a similar break of the cast metal stub into a swaged tube. I cannot remember if this Saabnet site had a contributor's fix, but it involved using a short section of galvanized plumbing pipe as a sleeve over the break and good old JB Weld epoxy to fix it forever! Otherwise, whether you can make such a repair on the 9-5 or you get a good used mechanism...as others say, removal of the wiper arms from the spindles is the hardest part and it really takes a special puller or get dicey like I have with a pickle fork and a hammer with precision approach to not bust the windshield! Gonzo mechanic move, and I'll be condemned by others....
Before removal of the arms, it's a good idea to use some white paint to draw a thin line vertically on the spindle threaded part after removing the nut and continue the line slightly onto the wiper arm knuckle to get them precisely re-attached in synchronized original position. You mighty think the wiper blades are aligned correctly on the windshield, but if you have gotten the motor shaft turned, the result can be the blades thrashing too low below the bottom of the windshield or sweeping up past the driver's side end of the windshield!
Last word of caution... The arms are not interchangeable! Each is particular to the curvature of the windshield relative to their spindle position left and right. In other words...put them back where they belong or the passenger arm mounted on the driver's side will not sit clear of the windshield glass and really nasty scratch/gouge appears!
Good Luck!
