I am getting some grease leakage at the narrow end of the outer CV boots on my 2007 9-5 Aero, which seems a little odd as the boots are fine otherwise and I’ve never seen this before on 40+ years of SAABs. So I intend to replace the boots and I have a few questions since I haven’t done boots since 9000 days. I understand the procedure to remove the shaft from the steering knuckle, but then I can’t seem to find much information here on how you remove the CV joint from the shaft in order to get the new boot installed. I seem to recall there was a C-clip on the 9000 that kept the CV joint on the shaft, but I don’t know if the 9-5 is the same. I seem to recall cutting the clamps, pulling the old boot back towards the transmission and the clearing the grease away to get at the C-clip. Then I used a puller to get the joint off the shaft. Any advice on boots since OEM don’t seem to be available, and is there a recommended grease? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
