The lack of tach needle movement has led me to to CPS diagnosis. When the car died on me last week, I was in the middle of a busy road, and didn't think to notice the tach. By the time I had swapped the DIC, perhaps it had cooled enough, or something. I found the intermittent nature of the symptoms to be confusing, but the DIC was just installed, so I correlated the two events.

I have a CPS in my box-o-parts, so I'll take care of that and keep an eye on its behavior. (I also have a fuel pump on hand.)
