I have to agree with you on the paint durability. I have a gray 2001 9-5 wagon and the paint still looks great with just a few stone chips as you say. Fortunately this car hasn’t seen much salt so it is also pretty good underneath. On the other hand, I have a black 2007 9-5 Aero sedan and the paint is failing on all the horizontal surfaces. Something changed in the paint treatment, but I’m hoping it is just a UV problem and the finish underneath might have improved over the years. Painting isn’t cheap, but dealing with rust is much more difficult and expensive.
