Re: it's serious -- $$ you would pay for 9-5 base wagon? I bought my wagon in early December for around $33,500; before taxes+fees. It was a base wagon 2.3t/manual with the premium package, heated/ventilated seats, and mica paint. The sticker on the car was $39,300. A quick comparison of the "invoice" price on various web sites was 35-36k. The catch is that it was part of military incentive program, and I'm sure the dealer lost money that was refunded by Saab USA. Most of the time you have to be in Europe on orders, but sometimes they give the prices domestically. It is the same as the IDS program, but there are different prices for tourists and military and diplomats. The program ended in December, but it might come back again, and it might give you some negotiating ammo, even if you are not military. Saab is willing to sell that low, so you might be able to get close. I would push hard around invoice price, remember the dealer still makes money on a hold-back. I know I couldn't walk in today and get the same price, but it shows how low they can sell the car and still make money.
