An EPA-Compliant Cat May Not Be Good Enough... ... for legal use in California (and a few other states that adopted CARB's standards). California's requirements are stricter than those levied by the EPA.
I sent an email to Taliaferro, asking them whether their offering is also CARB-compliant but have not heard back. Without assurance that it is, I would not buy it. Firstly, the converter case needs to be engraved with the CARB authorization number, and secondly, the manufacturer needs to be on the official CARB-approved list (see my original post).
BTW, buying from a reputable outfit will lower the risk of the end product being counterfeit, which given the selling price, is a credible concern.
