Your description sounds like mounting clamps, the rubber is designed to prevent chaffing of the metal clamp with the wire insulation, they can be mounted most anywhere to secure the heavy positive cable to the frame/body preventing any movement. I just picked out the nearest place to do so, each one being about 1/3 of the distance and secure. I drew out a routing map of the cable being removed first to help determine the best routing. The new cable made a huge difference to how the car starts increasing the battery longevity as well. Good luck.
