There is a 30A fuse that protects the circuit. I pulled it when it initially failed as it was like the seat was on high setting and it was physically uncomfortable to sit in the seat and I had a four hour drive to make. I can try swapping the passenger side switch in and see if it makes a difference. I don't think there is a relay or controller or anything. There isn't on a 9000 but I don't know as much about my 9-5.
