Local buyer came to test drive my 03 Aero manual last night and couldn't drive it! He suggested the 9-3s are much easier to engage the clutch. Hmmn. Years ago, a friend who's also a car nut told me he thought Saabs had a rep for having tricky clutches. I've had to 9-5s with manuals and they've never seemed particularly challenging, and I'll never claim to be an excellent driver. Definitely not a heavy clutch like in a 911, but I could see how the friction point/sweet spot might be a bit narrower than in some others I've driven like older VWs and Hondas. I had a 2d gen Miata that IIRC was really easy to drive with some nice clutch feel. I have driven a couple manual 9-3s over the years, and I found the clutch did seem to engage smoother and faster than in the 9-5s. I've had cars before with worn and even slipping clutches, and my Aero doesn't feel like that (it's got 150k miles, and I assume is on the original clutch). Am I crazy?
