Key programming / TWICE question Posted by Doug W [Email] |
I recently purchased a second key for the '08 9-5 2.3t we purchased. A local Mazda dealer retained some of their SAAB techs and service equipment. The new key works great. The problem I have is that I get the "Theft Protection Failure" message. Could programming the second key have messed up the TWICE unit? Prior to obtaining the second key this message never appeared.
I have an iCarSoft Volvo/SAAB scanner and it can look at the TWICE. I check for codes and there are none. I then see things that make no sense. There are line entries for each door, hood, and hatch in the TWICE section. I check "Bonnet" and it says "Open" when it's closed. I open the hood and check it and it says "Closed". To me this is an indication that the TWICE unit programming was adversely affected. Looks like I'll be calling the dealer back and asking them to fix this.
I suppose if I had a functioning Tech2 I could check it myself and perhaps reprogram it.
My previous question about the OpCom tool related to being able to read the TWICE. The iCarSoft scanner I bought for a Volvo we had proved worthwhile and offered some insights.
