Yes. I suspect they reprogrammed the TWICE. An old friend that had a Foreign car shop her in NE Ohio said that if the "Handover" for a key wasn't done right, errors would show up. It could have been that they programmed the key for the European version and then mated to our USA car. The system went looking for items that weren't there and then reported an error. (Theft Protection Failure).
The tech did say that the codes that came up when they took the car in for second time were for items that were not in the car. That jives with your TWICE reprogramming suspicion.
The second time seems to have worked. It's been a week and the car has been through quite a few start / stop cycles.
