I have two Tech 2s, an old genuine Vetronix Tech 2 and a newer clone. While they both work about the same on my Saabs, the build of the Vetronix and fit of cables and plugs is much better, even though it has seen several decades of hard use now. When I think about the time spent fiddling with a 20 year old Windows computer (with all the built in Windows “features”) and finding a decent 32 MB card among a lot of junk for sale, the $60 for the Vetronix card starts to look like a bargain. Everyone is different, but I’ll take working on my 25 year old Saab any day rather than dealing with an old Windows computer. I do keep a Windows tablet going for EPC, WIS, etc. My only regret is that Vetronix doesn’t sell their Tech2s any more and we have to roll the dice with the clones, which may become even harder in the near future. My intention was to mention this reliable source for Tech 2 cards and accessories for those interested. I don’t know how long they will continue to support the Tech 2 with cards and such as the number of users dwindles, but they still have my business.
