My wife and I are the only owners of a 1999 9–5. I am certain I have spent as much keeping the car going as I did to buy it new. There is a niggling irritating problem that will likely cause me to sell this car and that is the antenna. I cannot get a radio signal. It worked fine for years and then I brought it back from the shop and at a time when I was really not concerned with the car cause I had a bunch of little kids The signal stopped working. Couldn’t get in a radio signal for lover money around where I lived. And the car had done fine with the radio signal. I’m certain that the mechanic in his quest to fix something did something to the antenna cable. Sadly, I would like to use only Saab parts on my Saab. I don’t want to buy a double den replacement Bluetooth blah blah blah. I just want the radio to work. I’m on my third radio. The second one has super sticky buttons and no improved reception. The third one came from a 2001 arrow and randomly turns itself on and off. And the reception is no better. I am becoming more mechanically inclined as time goes on, but it appears the only way to find the break in the antenna wire is to take out the cage that holds the radio. And it looks like if I take that out, it’s never going back in again because of the way it’s in there. Even if I can’t find a break, I’m prepared to put another antenna in that attaches to the side of the windshield. It’s not perfect, but it could be better. Any advice also anybody have a pristine radio cage. Because I fear when I take this out, it’ll never go back in again because it will be bent and I can’t see a way to take it out without bending it.
