So -noticed several messages on my son's 2006 9 5 wagon after it conked out the other day on the freeway.

The scanner shows P 1576 #11 - Brake Light Switch Shorting to Battery positive (B+)

His third light on the tailgate is pretty much toast at this point and leads me to wonder if the problem is there.

My other son and I tried replacing what seemed to be good lights in the tailgate but they still wouldn't work.

Wondering if this is just a brake light switch at the pedal OR - worse yet - I read something about a switch under the dash somewhere. I bring that up because he has periodically had issues with starting that he resolved by slapping the dash. It would be great if we could get this issue resolved with whatever is going on here with this before he heads back off to school.
