Many of us have experienced internally corroded positive battery cables, which as they deteriorate become less able to effectively carry sufficient amperage to power the car. This can cause the cable to overheat as well as cause myriad electrical gremlins depending on how the corrosion is impacting the leads that come off the cable to the maxi-fuses..
Your current technician should be able to do a voltage drop test, which will determine how well the cable is performing under load. It’s a pretty simple test to do as a starting point.
