2000 9-5
Trying to figure why I have sudden squeals. Replaced water pump on road trip, and repair shop returned the car. Cold in Atlanta. On turning on EVERYTHING squealed. Worse with: moving steering, turning on/off AC.

History:
Power steering pump died; drove long time with out power steering. I drive 3k miles/yr and car has been hitting the skids. Arrived in Atl to dying water pump. Repaired, and shop replaced hoses around the power steering pump, filled it with fluid and it worked. I can't say he used 11s or CHF202, which worries me. Squeal was major for a few days, then abated in intensity, but in both cases ran on start up. Warmer weather reduced instensity or even presence when i got back to NOLA. If it started up, turning wheel left right enhances squeal; but low idle seemed to "let bearings warm up" and in a 10-30 secs its stops.

This worried me; pump dry for a while etc, so I bought a new pump, fluid. Need to find the viton o-ring and crush washers (which weren't packed with the pump), as I also want to flush the rack etc.

Warm/Hot weather here quieted the squeal, but yesterday it did it again, with a cool overnight.

Popped the hood to see if i could localize which device/bearing was unhappy, and the serpentine roller at the back on high was massive intense unhappy. Power steering was silent.

Proposed fixes:
I am going to buy and replace that roller (did it long ago on a drive thru WVa -- thanks to the Saab guy near at i-70/i-81 !). Figure I spent the cash on the power steering pump and fluid, and a flush means I m there to replace the pump. Still need to buy the oring and copper crush washer(s) and the local part (A dornan orange washer isn't measuring up to the size that google implies (1.9 mm diam)

So, Question 1: Is there anything that a water pump repair and replacing hoses for a power steering leak could do to cause a broad range of symptoms -- ie, squeals at roller bearing, power steering related noises.

Question 2: sources for the oring and crush washers? Auto zone didn't have M16 copper. And not comfortable with the Dornan orange ring's size

Other advice welcome !
Thanks.
