I have the 4 cyl, which was a pain as well.. but sounds like not as bad as your V6... In any case this is what i dug up... for the V6...
Method 1: Top-Down Access (The "Official" Way)
This approach involves clearing a path from the top of the engine bay.
Clear the Area: Remove the battery cover and disconnect the battery. You may need to remove the connector and bracket located directly above the starter motor to create a visual and physical path.
Move Secondary Components: On some V6 models, you may need to slide out the Secondary Air Injection (SAI) pump or associated brackets to get a clear reach.
Bolt Removal: The upper bolt is typically unthreaded from the top while the car is lowered.
Method 2: Under-the-Car Extension Method
Many owners find it easier to use long tools from underneath the vehicle.
Use Long Extensions: Use a 3/8" or 1/2" drive ratchet with roughly 3 feet of extensions and a swivel (U-joint) socket.
The Path: Feed the extension from the front of the engine, often threading it through or near the motor mount area toward the bellhousing.
Leverage: If the bolt is stuck, use a breaker bar to break it loose before switching to a ratchet.
