Thanks for the comments. I am considering steel wheels instead, but figured since they were heavier, then the car might handle differently with just one. ABS might act differently, TCS, etc. I'm not planning on rallying with my full-sized spare, but I am moving often with the military, and have a couple of cross country trips ahead of me with these cars. I want to be able to finish a day or two of highway driving if I have a flat in order to reach a major town without crawling along at 50.
WRT the tire fitting in the well, I am pretty sure it will fit, because when I had the flat before, I stuck the flat in the well, put the luggage back in, and everything seemed to fit fine. I guess I should measure before I spend any serious money.
