full-sized spare tire Posted by Ken [Email] (#2113) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ken) on Thu, 1 Feb 2001 21:56:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I am looking into getting full-sized spares for my two 9-5's (99 sedan and 2001 wagon)(I like these cars!) and had some questions. I'm sure the best option would be to get a fifth matching wheel and tire and rotate them into the other four, but one car has five spoke, and the other has ten spoke, so I would have to buy one of each to do this $$$. The cheapest option looks like getting two from someone selling their old 9-5 wheels, and not having a matching spare on one car. Will this cause any driving problems, other than looking weird, if I have to use, say, a five spoke wheel with three other ten spokes for a limited time? Do they perform differently? I got burned with a flat on a road trip and had to limp on at 50 mph on the mini-spare for a few hours, which was really annoying, since everyone else was flying by at 100. (It happened in Spain, and I am back in the states now). Last question, is there anyone else out there with a non-Aero 9-5 that would be willing to buy a wheel or two with me, since I don't think anyone in the classified section will sell me just two of their wheels. Thanks for the help,
Ken
