Either I'm confused about your question, or the other people who responded are. Are you asking about the On star service, or using the On star hardware with your cell phone (using the Ultronics device)? I'm under the impression you're talking about just using the hardware.
I haven't tried this yet, but I think I'm going with Ultronics after my one year free period has expired. Regular cell phone rates are much cheaper than what On Star is selling. Do you know if you can still dial with voice commands with that system? I've seen phones from Telus in Canada recently which give directions/restaurant recommendations similar to the On star service- so you may be able to kill two birds with one stone.
Anyone tried out the Telus service?
I belive that the Ultronics service allows you to use your cellphone and keep On star if thats your thing. Anyone know of any products which use the On Star hardware with your phone and don't keep the On Star?
One last question- The Ultronics package just uses the speakers and microphone from On Star right? I'm asking because I wouldn't want my digital phone to be transmitting on On Star's analog system.
