If any of the "issues" you mention bother you enough, you won't buy it. Take several test drives like I did - if the torque steer bothers you enough, don't buy; if the cupholder bothers you enough, don't buy, etc.
I don't mean to be sarcastic, but no car is perfect - we all look for a car with the ideal blend of factors we consider important.
Don't let other people's comments on "issues" sway you - drive for yourself and evaluate things such as the amount of torque steer you can tolerate.
Of course a 235HP front-driver has some torque steer, but it's a small price to pay for the unbelievably fun torque the car has.
I would never let a cupholder or storage cubbies sway my purchase decision - I'm more interested in how the car LOOKS and DRIVES, but those are my priorities.
I'm very glad I got the manual - search the archives for my comments a year ago on this subject - many folks aren't fond of it, but as a stick lover, I wouldn't have it any other way. When I drive the auto loaners (Aero and V-6) from the dealer, I'm very glad I got the stick. Could the shift feel be better? Of course (I have a Miata also), but you get used to it, and it's still fun to shift.
Overall, after a year and 15k miles, I'm still very impressed with the value, power, handling, style, luxury, etc of the Aero - an excellent total package at a much cheaper price than say a 5 series.
