Lou is right, any phone that has a car kit with the right connections (12v, mute, ignition sense, audio out) will work with the 9-5.
The small adapter cable that saab sells for the main makes (nokia, ericsson etc) just differs in the kind of plugs at the phone end of the cable. If you have another make you can just cut these off and match them as required. You would definintely need this adapter though - since at the saab end it's a really strange connector.
I wrote a web page about adding a hands free kit - the connections and different phone brackets you can use - but I haven't had time to upload it yet, now i'm away from home but i'll do it when I get back.

about 6300 series not turning off when you turn off the ignition -it may be because the phone switches to battery power when the ignition is off, so it's not really a problem with the car kit or design of the phone. I would prefer my 6210 to work that way too.

The newest phones are using a connector called "pop port" so if you choose a phone like this and fit the car kit for it then you are a bit more future proofed against the phone changing and needing new car kit and holder.
