Update on the Center armrest on Wagon Models - its actually pretty cool.

Saab has a momentum/gravity activated latch mechanism in the center armrest of the wagon. In a frontal collision, a pendulum like device will swing forward and lock the armrest into place.

You can test the device by leaning the "60" side of the 60/40 rear seat forwards slightly - this will cause the device to latch the armrest. You can then try yankign the armrest down. Notice the armrest does come down slightly, but not enought to hit/hurt your child. Of course you could aslo test it by having a person in the back try to open the center armrest while the driver slams on the brakes - I find leaning the seat forward a bit easier.

If you have a Sedan, be sure to order and install the center armrest tether strap. Saab provides it for free.
