Regarding your sway, this is exactly what I tried looking for when I took my sister-in-law's enterprise rented 9-5 out on the highway a couple of weekends ago. At various speeds, I tried gunning it to see what would happen. Nothing out of the ordinary, just amazing power, more than I'd ever been used to before in a Saab. It was surprising to me because the most powerful Saab I've owned was our 83 900 Turbo which had tons of power at highway speed, but delivery was not immediatley due to turbo spool up time. The 9-5 delivers the power absolutely immediately.
As for noise, I drive a 92 and a 90 900. For me, there was virtually no noise in the 9-5. I listened to a CD at very low volume and could hear great acoustics.
Totally agree with you regarding the current 9-5 lines. It's such an amazing looking car. Very forward leaning, sporty, aggressive sedan. Exactly what it should be.
It was a little luxurious for me. I'd probably have to grow up a little more before I'd find myself truly behind the wheel of a 9-5. I'd expect to be in a 9-3 first...
fwiw,
-Scott
