I have the Samsung phone about the size and shape of the Star-tac and this is my advice for mounting it in the car:
Buy the 9-5 telephone mount from Saab (the half round thing that mounts to the side of the dash), but don't buy the phone cradle (but if you really want one, I'll sell you mine that I'm not using). Go to Radio Shack and buy the phone cradle with the big suction cup that attaches to the windshield. Throw away the suction cup and arm and screw the cradle to the Saab phone mount. The radio shack one is smaller (more Star-Tac sized) and is easier to operate than the Saab one. That's my humble opinion. As far as connecting it to the hands-free system, a-la OnStar, some of the other posters here have had success using a product called Triad.
Good luck!
-Chris
