even more suggestions...

Since you didn't tell us exactly what you've used, we risk being repetitive or confusing. But here are a couple more suggestions:
Many pro detailers use #0000 steel wool to clean windows. I use it with Autoglym Glass Polish; Griots Garage makes a glass polish as well. The combo of steel wool and creamy glass polish works extremely well at removing crud.
A quick wipe down with mineral spirits or 3M wax remover will dissolve old spray wax or goo from car washes. Follow up with the steel wool/glass polish. Last step is to wipe off the wiper blades with a mild cleaner to prevent them from streaking.
I never use household cleaners on auto glass. Those products simply were not designed to do the job. Use a cleaner specifically for auto glass. I like Stoners Invisible Glass, Eagle One 20/20 glass cleaner, and Sprayway glass cleaner.
The ultimate glass cleaning tool of all time is a microfiber towel. Used with an auto glass cleaner will result in perfect windows. I highly recommend a towel to be used specifically for glass. Keep the towel in a Ziploc bag when not being used. http://www.properautocare.com sells excellent microfiber towels and I use their glass cleaning cloth exclusively. It's an awesome little product.
Hope all this helps. Let us know what you end up doing so we all can learn.
