Yes, many DI failures smell like burnt epoxy. And if you leave the ignition on there are thoughts that the harness can overheat too!!! Hopefully you are not smelling the wires.
When the vehicle gets towed, make sure the ignition is not left on during the tow! Someone did have a destructive harness meltdown. When this happens, fires are possible too.
When a DI fails, lift the hood and smell near each end of the DIed cassette. That can be very definative.
Year? Miles? location/climate? city/highway?
