9-5 model reliability differences

I am intending to buy an '02 9-5 automatic, but am undecided between the 2.3LPT, SE, and Aero. Any insights on projected reliability / durability differences between the models would be appreciated. (I am willing to pay something extra for "fun factor", but not at the expense of longevity.)
P.S. I have been told that the engines in the 2.3LPT and Aero are the same SAAB engine with different injectors, and that it has proven to be "bomb-proof". True?
P.P.S. Conversely, I have been told the engine in the SE was forced on SAAB by GM Europe, and is an unknown entity, as regards durability. True?
