Please allow me to introduce myself. Last week, my wife and I took delivery of a new 2003 Saab 9-5 Linear. It is our second Saab, and it's been too long coming (the first one was a 1975 99LE). This is a terrific car, which I'm sure isn't news to the folks here on this board. We got the 5 speed manual transmission, with the premium and touring packages, silver with dark charcoal interior.
I traded in my 2001 Chevy Silverado four wheel drive pickup, but that's another story. The Saab will replace my wife's 2001 Olds Aurora.
I am impressed with the Saab's ride, handling, quietness, comfort, performance, fuel economy, build quality, room, heater, and beauty, among other things!
We wanted a manual transmission, and the 5 speed in this car is great, desipite what I have read in some reviews. We had a chance to drive a new 9-5 Arc while our car was being prepped for delivery, and it was ok, but there's no substitute in my mind for a real manual transmission. We also drove a new 9-3 with a 5 speed, but the 9-5 was more to our liking.
