Almost since day 1, I've noticed a problem with my 1999 9-5. The engine and transmission are very rough -- rough idle, rough shifting (automatic), hard starting, etc. I've complained about this to my dealer several times and have had the spark plugs changed, the throttle body cleaned (several times) and throttle body replaced. Each time the car seems to be a little better for a while but it doesn't last. Now the dealer says they can't do anything else.

From reading this board I came to the conclusion that maybe there's a problem with my ECU. Apparently some 99's have an ECU manufactured by Lucas which can cause the symptoms I'm experiencing.

Is there any way for me to determine if I have the problem Lucas ECU? If it turns out that I do, any suggestions for how I can convince my dealer to replace it?
