Very interesting. Glad you were able to push the 9-5 -- best part is that it gets better with age. I would say that at 8000 miles or so the car feels much more responsive.
The salesman thing is bothersome. I have to admit that my Saab experience has made me a second time Saab buyer. I also like BMWs and with the exception of one BMW dealership in the area the salesman were jerks and ticked me enough to stick with Saab. Same with the Audi salesman. I imagine it has to do with the fact that they sell 10x the number of Infinity cars relative to the Saab dealer who has a much smaller audience. Probably similar to the Saturn experience. Its also a big difference in that the Saab dealer let you really test drive the car vs. the Infinity dealer than never let you go above 50 -- thats a bunch of bull. Even the BMW dealer let me get it up to 90 and take some hairy turns.
Do let us know what you decide.

BTW - You can buy a short shifter kit for the Saab. I was reading about it on the 9-3 board - sounds like an easy install and did not cost that much.
