I,m very impressed by the reception you have at the U.S> SAAB dealers. IS it because they are SAAB only or wth Cadillac? Here in Canada the story is quite different with SAAB linked with Saturn and Isuzu. You pay for a premium car but the reception is simply run of the mill cheesy .Take my case for instance, and I,m not alone. The dealers have a "no dicker price vis a vis Saturn, and there is little leeway to bargain. You may think I,m a masochist but I was sold on the 9-5 through research on the internet on the car,s quality and safety merits. I paid the full price plus tax of 52000can$ for the wagon. When I asked if they could simply throw in the optional rubber footmats for that full price , the creep salesman told me with a composed countenance "we at Saturn SAAB ISUZU OF ------ do notuse such crass language"(!!) I wanted the car so I returned to deal through the owner rather. The car has been wonderful but the services sucks absolutely. NO part is ordered even under warranty unless youarrange a follow up appointment. Where,s the trust, who do they believe they are dealing with? a customer who can afford an MB or BMW or a pleb with a cheaper Saturn , or maybe they see all their clients as dishonest potentially or just a bunch of dorks whose money they can fleece. The service person even said " oh just make a fake appointment and we will order" whatever that means. I did in fact make one such appointment, I arranged for a loaner, which at first was questoined, until I reminded I had a loaner clause written into the purchase contract. I took a few valuable hours off my work for this nonsense only to be told at the day,s end thepart in question never did arrive. Last week I took my car there for a 48000 service ,I left my worknumber , but the dolts called my home to tell the maid I had to have a brake job, and threatened that as it was 2-30 pm I had better call IMMEDIATELY if I wished to have it done and get back my car that day. $1700 dollars later I wait outside the dealer for their mechanic to return from the testdrive. He hands me the keys then , I get into the car to see immediately there is a low fluid level which I thought was the windshield fluid . Oh how wrong I was ,butit was dark then. The next morning Ichecked correctly and found I had to replenish 3 1/2 pints of radiator fluid. I dont even wish to see those idiots again but the next nearest SAAB dealer is over 100km away and their reputation is even worse. So would I buy SAAB again? I,m torn as I love the car. Any thoughts? Any wonder SAAB is in trouble?
