Well it has been 13 months since I leased my new 9-5 Linear auto, and I figured that after driving the car for a little over a year I can share some of my views of the car.

I was coming out of a 99 9-3 auto, which was my first Saab car ever, and the 9-5 is by far night and day in comparison. My 9-5 has been flawless as far as realiability with no unscheduled visits to the dealer other than the actual service calls. I am very happy about this because I honestly got into into the car with a big question mark as far as realibility. I was torned between the 9-5 or the Acura TL. My 9-3 had some major electrical issues and a lot of nonsense issues in the first 3000 miles of ownership. So, so far so good

The car is a pleasure to drive. It is confortable. It is peppy enough for a 4 cylinder but only in Sport Mode. otherwise forget it. It has all the bells and whistles (cruise, leather, radio controls on the wheel, etc, etc. that you would expect for this class of automobile. I feel extremely safe driving with my two toddlers in the car, and I like the conservative and classy looks of my silver car. It handles great. So, so far so good

What I do not like. The car or the tires ??????? can be really noisy at highway speeds. My husband has a brand new GMC Envoy and even though it is an SUV, there is very little tire noise. Perhaps his SUV might be even quiter at highway speeds. But I can live with it because I might be do for new tires in another year or so. Sometimes there is a noise when I turn on the ac. ??????????????? Again, I can live with it because the air is always cold and I have yet to have a proble with it. BUT WHAT I DO HATE ABOUT THE CAR is the shaking when the car is on iddle. It is hard to believe that a car that sells in the $30's sounds like a $12,000 car. I was considering getting the V6, but the lease was not as attrative, and a lot of people on this board felt that the 4 cylinder was the way to go. If it were not for the fact that the lease ws so attractive, I would have been very hard pressed to pay that kind of money for the car. It does have a sporty sound and feel to it, but it is not a sports car. Maybe the Aero, but then again........................

I still have two years left on my lease and yes, I am very much looking forward to driving and enjoying the car. My residual at the end of the lease is $15,800. It will be interesting to see what happnes at the end of the lease in the sense that would I feel like getting a new car then or whould I buy my current 9-5 for that price. Will I be happy with the engine after 36,000 miles. Will I think that this 9-5 will be as realible after the warranty runs out. I do not know the answers to any of this questions, but I do know that I like the car so far but I might be wishing I had the V6 for the sole reason of performance alone and yes ENGINE NOISE at iddle. Do not kill me for this but maybe a Honda Accord or a Nissan Maxima will do. ?????????????
