If the car is in warranty, then the easiest way is to change at the factory recommended interval, using any synthetic.
I would not try to extend the drain interval with any other synthetic than AMSOIL or Mobil 1 unless I used oil analysis.
I currently change my turbos every 10,000 miles, and filters at 5,000. I have done oil analysis, and know that I'm throwing away oil that is still suitable for use.
You can switch to synthetic any time. Your factory fill was semi-synthetic and capable of going the 7500 miles recommended by Saab.
