Well, I'm not from Europe, but I definitely like their way of thinking when it comes to cars.
I'm planning the switch to diesel partly because I'm a fan of durability and simplicity, and partly because I'm planning on switching to Bio-diesel immediately thereafter which environmentally negates most of diesels down-sides.
I'm not too concerned about repairs like timing belts, I've done more hideous repairs than that, I was just concerned about the engines overall durability with things like rods and pins and such. I'm not out to do a total overhaul of the engine anytime soon.
I'm glad to hear the 3.0 is made by Isuzu. They do have a great reputation for diesel engines like in their NPR's with a service lifespan of 300-400 thousand miles. Thanks for the input guys.
At least the timing belt's not as bad as replacing the timing chain on my 9k. I had to gut the whole engine to do that, NOT FUN.
