I know that this has been discussed before, but the sales numbers for the 9-5 (sedan and wagon) and the 9-3 convertible must be diving this year. Overall sales are up, but it's all in the 9-3 SS and certified pre-owned cars. If you take out the 9-3 S and pre-owned cars, sales of the remaining products are down 54% for July. This can't be good.
Even the "momentum" that Kelly-Ennis notes is downward, now that the pent-up demand for the higher-end 9-3 SS's is satisfied. Published year-to-date sales increases from January to July are 62%, unknown, 19%, 26% (a bump following the release of the 9-3 Arc and Vector models), 24%, 19.8%, and 18.7%.
Will the 9-3 SS convertible and the 9-2 (choke) and 9-7 (double-choke) help enough? Can the 9-5 survive for three more years before it gets a fresh injection of life?
Depressingly, Ken
