The reason we have Lemon Laws

It is because of stories like yours that many (most?) states in the U.S. have passed so-called "Lemon Laws." In Florida, which I suppose is typical of other states, there is a repair limit for the same problem (3 times, plus one additional final repair attempt). Even if the same problem doesn't keep occurring, there is also a 30 days out of service limit. It sounds like you would have qualified for both (the defect must substantially impair the use or safety of the vehicle).
While I'm a Libertarian and simply detest governmental regulation, once in awhile governmental meddling in private, commercial transactions does something worthwhile. All auto manufacturers, including Saab, ought to institute their own "lemon" program to rescue owners like you....
My condolences.
